The ceremony is to be held in O'Neill Park in south Orange County, on the same hike where we met and were engaged.
On the map, (1) reflects the hike trailhead in O'Neill park, and (2) is the after-party at Cook's Corner, just a mile away. We undersand that this is very much out of the way for most non-hikers.
This is not the usual park entrance - please read these instructions. This probably requires planning if you haven't been here before.
Zooming in a bit on the above map shows the hike location in context:
Once you turn onto Valley Vista, you're entering a nice residential neighborhood, and there will be roads branching off to your left where the houses are. Keep going straight, all the way to the end, and park along the main feeder road.
Please do not park on the residential side streets - there's plenty of room for us on Meadow Ridge Drive.
We've found that the address 2 Chisholm Trail, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679 works well with most GPS navigators, but do not go to that house - they have nothing to do with this event - it's just a close address that seems to get people to the right place.
We expect folks to gather up at the trailhead, and probably go up in groups; we'll have plenty of regular Sunset Hikes hikers to lead the uninitiated.
Live Oak Trail continues straight ahead, as if it were a continuation of the feeder road (Meadow Ridge), then turns left before the gate, and follows a mostly obvious trail to Vista Point. The cellular towers are right next to our destination, and you can see them from most of the trail.
If you have never done this trail before and arrive after all the escorts have left, we do not recommend that you attempt this on your own. Instead, just meet us at Cook's after.
Getting to Cook's Corner could not be easier once you've managed to find the trailhead.
After returning to your car, go back out Valley Vista, and turn right onto El Toro Road (but: no right turn on red from Valley Vista to El Toro). Go past the light at Ridgeline, then the yellow flashing light is Live Oak Canyon Road - hang a right, and Cook's is right there.
You'll be approaching from the south, and note that El Toro turns into Santiago Canyon Road (headed north) at this intersection.
There might be orange cones protecting the motorcycle parking, just go past that (Protip: don't knock down any bikes!). There's generally lots of space here at Cook's.
